I have never understood why we grow up learning to eat cereal or pop-tarts for breakfast. Who came up with that idea? I never really conformed to that ideology… just ask my college roommates who often woke up to the sweet smell of steamed broccoli in the morning. Sometimes you just don’t feel like oatmeal, powerballs, fruit or toast when you wake up. Sometimes your body craves something different… listen to your body (within reason of course)!
Now don’t get me wrong, if you wake up and your body is telling you, “I need ice cream and chocolate cookies for breakfast,” chances are your body is wrong. However, when you are eating clean, your body is fine-tuned to know what certain nutrients and vitamins you need to keep you in tip top shape. We were created by God who designed the human body so very uniquely – we are intricate beings.
That being said, if you wake up craving broccoli, carrots or even a salad – go for it! When we are eating a majority of clean, plant-based foods, our bodies know what they need to stay healthy and keep performing at our upmost capabilities.
This morning I woke up and was craving spinach and tomatoes, so I made a salad. What is your body telling you to eat?
