Today marks the beginning of my adventure toward my Masters Degree in Health Education at Texas A&M University. In honor of getting back into a routine schedule (I do enjoy a schedule), I’ve decided to get my body back into the swing of things as well. This week I will be going on a juice cleanse. I know what some of you are thinking… don’t do it! How will you get enough nutrients?! You need calcium, what about protein?!
Let me assure you, juiced fruits and veggies have an enormous amount of vitamins, nutrients, calcium and yes, protein too! In fact, by juicing for one day your body is provided with more nutrients than if you were to scarf down the average American diet.
Last night at Starbucks, I was thrilled to have been introduced to a true jewel – “Evolution Fresh: Sweet Greens & Lemon Juice,” a juice that finally is just what is says – straight up 100% juice.
The ingredients consist of only fruit and vegetable juices, meaning all the sugar in the drink comes from the natural fruit itself. Take a look at the ingredients list found on the label – celery, apples, cucumbers, spinach, kale, parsley, romaine, lemons, limes, wheat grass and clover sprouts. Talk about a veggie overhaul! Not only is this juice healthy, but deliciously refreshing as well! At only 100 calories, this energy-boosting juice is a great way to start your day! When you are not feeling your normal triple whip vanilla soy latte, I would suggest choosing this nourishing and healthy alternative offered at your local Starbucks.
While on my juice cleanse, this will be perfect to keep in the fridge for those moments I need some nourishment, but am in a time crunch! Keep checking back throughout the week, as I will be updating you with some great juicing recipes to have you lean, green and clean in no time!
To sum it all up, Evolution Fresh: Sweet Greens & Lemon Juice – The Veggie Girl approves!
