I could not be more excited to be getting back into the health and fitness industry! After working in DC, experiencing the high-strung “desk job,” this free spirit is ready to hit the gym floor running! Although, I’ve actually never been much into “running” (I envy those who enjoy it, but to me it just gets a little boring after awhile) and you probably won’t see me doing heavy weight lifting, but I love group fitness classes. There is something addicting about working out in a big group, as a team – it’s almost just like a big workout party. And as a former cheerleader, I love being at the front of the class cheering everyone on!
So, getting back into the swing of things, I auditioned to become a group fitness instructor at LA Fitness yesterday! I’m not sure why I was so nervous about it… while at Texas A&M, I worked as a fitness instructor at the Student Recreation Center (I was even placed on the front cover of the Fitness Instructor Training Manual for the university). Maybe it was just being in a new gym with new people.
However, as soon as I kicked off my shoes and stepped onto the yoga mat, I was in barefoot bliss… it all came right back, and I was hired as their new area Yoga, Pilates, Spinning and Boot Camp instructor.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love my mat workouts and the beautiful Schwinn bike, but I also love to DANCE. So continuing down the road of health and happiness, I have hopped on the most recent fitness-wagon, and am getting certified in Zumba tomorrow!
For those of you who just said “Zum-whaa?” Check out the video below to find out more about what fun, flavorful “Zumba” looks like, and I encourage you to check out a class in your area… you’ll be having a blast in no time and won’t even realize you’re burning hundreds of calories!
I’ve heard it’s an intense day of training, so I will definitely let y’all know how it goes!
