Sitting here beside the windowsill, listening to the raindrops pitter-patter against the glass, I am reminded that there is nothing better than simple joys in life. Small pleasures, like raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens (as Maria from The Sound of Music would say) are truly a few of my favorite things.
Just like simple joys in life, I believe there is nothing better than simple food… untouched, unprocessed, whole food. So, I just had to make raw apple cider. It’s a great drink when you are craving something sweet or wanting to capture the taste of fall.
Ingredients:
- 4 large apples
- 1 lemon
First thing is first, a juicer is required for this recipe. (Don’t have one? Check out my favorite Jack LaLanne Power Juicer here.) Begin by coring the apples and removing the lemon peel. These juicers are powerful and are able to juice an entire lemon, including the rind! However, I suggest removing the peel for this recipe, as it tends to give the juice a more bitter, acidic taste.
Next, turn on your juicer, add the apples and lemon, and you have yourself fresh apple cider! Drink it cold or heat it up on the stove top or in the microwave to warm up a bit.
Throwing a fall party? Spice up your decor with some “apple mugs.” Using a paring knife, cut off the top of an apple, then slice a cylinder about 3/4 of the way into the apple. Take a spoon and scrape out the core, creating a clean line. Finally, pour in your cider, and this fall mug is sure to get your guests in the spirit of the season.
