Looking for a way to increase your energy and clear your mind at the same time? Have you tried yoga?
Over the past few years it seems that everyone has been all a buzz about this “yoga.” I first heard about this ancient (but new to me) way of exercise from my mom. I thought she had surely lost her mind when she came over one day raving about the yoga class she had just taken. “I can breathe better, I feel better, I feel free, lighter,” she went on and on. After a couple weeks of her continuous accolades of yoga, I noticed something – she had more energy.
It was at this point that I thought I had to try this out for myself. I was skeptical walking into my first class. After all, “Isn’t yoga for the weirdies, the folks wanting some sort of out-of-body experience? What’s with all this OMMM stuff anyway?” I thought. However, after taking the first class, I was converted – I had become… a yogi.
You see, yoga is what you make it. There are some people out there who use yoga to concentrate on the “spirits” and what not – but you don’t have to be one of them. I use yoga to relax, de-stress and build strength and flexibility. It is my favorite way of exercising, and it is great if you only have a few minutes in the morning to devote to your health.
After yoga, I feel like I put on my supergirl cape and can conquer the world for the rest of the day! Trust me, just try it. Even if you only have 5 minutes in the morning, start with this sun salutation. It will have you breathing deeper, thinking more clearly, and who knows – you may even find yourself experiencing Wonder Woman powers.
