In the year of 2000, the fifth of July,
There I stood on the dock, looking out toward the sky.
Having no idea of the journey before me,
I jumped in, then came up, but now what did I see.
Once all I could see was an eternal night,
But you opened the window, Lord, You gave me sight.
These veils of black have been turned into light,
Jehovah Raffah, my Healer, Lord, You are my might.
The once bright day had suddenly turned dark,
Yet this was only the beginning of my road to embark.
There was nothing for me to see, but black shadows,
Then I was rushed to the ER, shaking from head to toes.
Once all I could see was an eternal night,
But you opened the window, Lord, You gave me sight.
These veils of black have been turned into light,
Jehovah Raffah, my Healer, Lord, You are my might.
Brain Tumor, I heard the doctor say,
Then he scheduled for surgery, without delay.
Yet, still within me, I felt at peace.
It was You, Lord who made my worries cease.
Once all I could see was an eternal night,
But you opened the window, Lord, You gave me sight.
These veils of black have been turned into light,
Jehovah Raffah, my Healer, Lord, You are my might.
Then the doctor looked at my parents,
And said, in a sorrowful sense,
With the optic nerve the tumor intertwined,
For the rest of her life, she is bound to be blind.
Once all I could see was an eternal night,
But you opened the window, Lord, You gave me sight.
These veils of black have been turned into light,
Jehovah Raffah, my Healer, Lord, You are my might.
There I stood on surgery morn,
A little nervous and somewhat forlorn,
Until I realized I had nothing to fear,
I had My Lord Jesus, and He was near.
Once all I could see was an eternal night,
But you opened the window, Lord, You gave me sight.
These veils of black have been turned into light,
Jehovah Raffah, my Healer, Lord, You are my might.
Before I went into surgery that day,
I bowed my head and began to pray,
That I would always remember the vivid colors I once knew,
Honey bee yellow, rose pink, bright orange and blue.
Once all I could see was an eternal night,
But you opened the window, Lord, You gave me sight.
These veils of black have been turned into light,
Jehovah Raffah, my Healer, Lord, You are my might.
I was awakened with a great light,
And I knew it was You who had held me tight.
It was You who kept me from harm’s way.
This gift of mercy I could never repay.
Once all I could see was an eternal night,
But you opened the window, Lord, You gave me sight.
These veils of black have been turned into light,
Jehovah Raffah, my Healer, Lord, You are my might.
For being a product of God’s healing power,
I thank My Lord, almost every hour.
He has raised the curtain of black from my face.
I am forever grateful for His astounding grace.
Once all I could see was an eternal night,
But you opened the window, Lord, You gave me sight.
These veils of black have been turned into light,
Jehovah Raffah, my Healer, Lord, You are my might.
And whether through my eyes, or through my heart
I will see my Lord in heaven, right from the start,
Because with You as my Rock, my Steady Foundation,
I will always have sight through my salvation.
Once all I could see was an eternal night,
But you opened the window, Lord, You gave me sight.
These veils of black have been turned into light,
Jehovah Raffah, my Healer, Lord, You are my might.
“You, Oh Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.” – Psalm 18:28
